Medical Records Committee
Scope and Contents
The records are comprised of meeting minutes arranged in reverse chronological order dating from December 11, 1947, through February 20, 1967. The minutes cover committee business and topics such as the problem of delayed record completion, the movement of information with patients being transferred to and from the Wellesley Convalescent Home, and the problems of x-ray film storage. Later the dilemma of storage space becomes more prevalent, along with the use of microfilming and automated systems for filing and retrieval of records.

Historical Note
The Medical Records Committee was appointed by Doctor Guy W. Brugler on December 11, 1947, to study the problems and policies in connection with the preparation, content, and management of medical records. The first committee consisted of six doctors, one registered record librarian who acted as secretary, and an administrative assistant. Committee members were chosen from departments across Boston Children’s Hospital. They faced the problems of missing, incomplete, and inconsistent records in the Medical Records Department.
