Historical Note
United States President Abraham Lincoln was fatally shot by actor and Confederate ally John Wilkes Booth in a viewing box in Ford's Theatre, Washington D.C. on April 14, 1865. A national period of mourning followed the assassination, and "souvenirs" such as this wallpaper piece taken from the wall of aforementioned theater box were widely produced and sold around the country.

Physical Description
Framed and matted under glass. Paper piece is red with lighter red leaf motif.
Inscription reads "A piece of paper hangings taken from the wall of the box in which our President was assasi-nated. F.d."
Pasted on the frame back is a newspaper illustration with the caption ASSASSINATION OF ABRAHAM LINCOLN.
