Initially released as "Introducing" in its first issue, this monthly newsletter went nameless in its second issue until it was finally named The Synapse by Dr. W. Scott James, Jr., a senior resident on the Medical Service in Volume 1, Number 4. It was published by the Public Relations Department and edited by a board of staff from around the hospital. It was meant to update the staff on the hospital's activities. It was eventually renamed "News of... the Children's Hospital Medical Service."
